Scott uses a full body, integrated approach to assessment and treatment. He uses a full body movement screen (SFMA), thorough history, palpation, and Neurokinetic Therapy to find the origin of pain rather than just treat the symptoms. Scott is genuinely intrigued by the complexity of the body, how it moves, and why we have pain. He loves inspiring change and helping people get the results they deserve. Our habits (good and bad) shape our bodies and how they function. Previous injuries, surgeries and scars create global compensation patterns that may not be evident until many years later.

Scott believes in a hands-on approach to treatment. His treatment sessions utilize various soft tissue techniques (including fascial release), joint mobilization, muscle activation/re-training, education and lifestyle modification. The goal of treatment sessions are to reduce pain, improve movement patterns, and most importantly, educate and empower a better understanding of your body as it relates to pain and dysfunction.

Scott graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. He is constantly seeking out continuing education opportunities to grow his skill set and clinical knowledge. He is particularly interested in finding solutions to chronic problems, treating vestibular issues (dizziness, vertigo), improving quality of life and exercise performance.

I was always certain of two things: I want to help people better themselves and, through my work, help them realize their potential. Whether I was working in the fitness, rehabilitative, or beauty and makeup industry, I felt most fulfilled when I was able to help clients build confidence in themselves and their abilities. Drawing on my skills and experience in these industries, and having an affinity to working with my hands, I made the leap to become a manual therapist, and have loved every moment since.

You don’t have to live with pain
Everyone experiences pain at some point and it can be debilitating. I started experiencing pain from occupational demands in my early adulthood. Pain became a part of my life and I thought it was normal. As I incorporated more fitness and sports, new injuries surfaced and they compounded over time. I found out through my work as a massage therapist, this was due to postural compensations, poor body awareness and movement patterns. Whether you’re experiencing pain or limitations from post-surgery, occupational demands, sport injuries, don’t let a minor setback deter you from a major comeback!

My Approach
Being attentive, patient, and understanding to clients’ needs carries over to building a great practice today. Clients may have similar symptoms but the underlying issues are distinctive of one another. This is why I don’t rely on cookie-cutter methods when treating clients, rather my approach focuses on the global picture of symptoms, compensations, and history being presented. This allows me to cultivate a more effective treatment. My treatment approach is to help you feel better, recover faster, restore function, improve movement patterns and continue with injury prevention. My integrated treatment approach comprises of, but is not limited to, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, medical acupuncture, movement assessment, and Rocktape.

When I’m not treating clients, I love to explore movement-based training and teaching yoga. I make a conscious effort to strive for growth and resilience in my practice. Having worked years in rehabilitative clinics, I see value in combining the experience and knowledge of practitioners in various disciplines. I take courses, workshops, and seminars across North America, as I am committed to continue my journey to provide my clients with the best treatment possible.

Vaishali Patel

Vaishali Patel is a Registered Psychotherapist working in private practice in Downtown Toronto. She has been counselling since 2003, and worked in the field of Employee Assistance Programming (EAP) for more than six of those years, gaining experience and a greater understanding of the importance of work life balance, and overall wellness of individuals

Vaishali has waged a personal and professional battle against Superwoman Syndrome. In the past decade she has gone through a number of life transitions, nothing tragic or traumatic, but ones that caused her focus on wellness to shift (marriage, moving, having children, changing jobs). Although she was a therapist the whole time, she found that it was difficult to keep an eye on her own self care even though she was encouraging others to do so for themselves. Having this experience, she realized that many women with families and careers have similar experiences, and decided to develop a practice that help individuals like herself move forward when they’ve veered off their paths to wellness. Vaishali feels that it’s not realistic to help anyone strive to have it all. Her goal instead is to help them “have what you love and love what you have.”

In addition to psychotherapy, Vaishali runs RAW (Revealing Authentic Women) Support Circles– where women meet to discuss issues relevant to their lives, support each other, and practice living authentically; and good for you Ladies Night Outs– evening social events with activities, discussion, food, and wine that will send you home happier and healthier. She also provides workshops on topics such as how to tackle perfectionism, managing role strain, having realistic expectations, cultivating self worth, implementing self-care, and creating boundaries.
